The evacuation of Makri and Livisi was done by ships and same as for most of the areas of Minor Asia. the majority of the leaving population was women and children.First stops was Rhodes island, where a big number of families settled and is still living there today and the islands of Kastellorizo,Tzia and Tinos, Many Makrolivisians spent first years in Piraeus (Drapetsona and Kalokairina neighborhoods) until they finally settle in New Makri. Some families wandered and finally settled in many places around Greece, mainly in Itea,Amfissa,Galaxidi,Kozani,Creta,Draxmani-Karditsa, while others left for Australia where they still live.
